Comparative assessment of the actual and potential productivity of agricultural lands with poorly leached chernozems in the municipality of Kaynardja, Silistra region

On sites with weakly leached chernozems located in the agro-ecological conditions of municipality Kaynardzha, Silistra region, soil fertility and productivity agricultural lands were assessed two ways: 1. Through routinely used Bulgaria “Methodology for work on cadaster NRB” (Petrov et al., 1988.) 2. a newly developed methodology “Modern approaches potential assessment (Land evaluation categorization) Bulgaria” (Radovanova, 2020). The results showed following: In current evaluation, average agronomic score subject to research under non-irrigated is 69, irrigated 86, i.e. this classifies land use suitability 4th 2nd categories respectively. obtained scores at 72 90 conditions, respectively, classify these into 3rd category (non-irrigated) 1st (irrigated). critical comparison leads conclusion that even some most fertile Bulgarian soils, does not reveal their full production potential. For practice, both assessments should be performed simultaneously. This would accurately orient manufacturers type technological solutions size necessary investments.
